#316 Number 10 Harvest Table

Its not really a harvest table but you can call it that if you like... Number 10 is a table from a summer camp. Actually the base is from a summer camp while the top is completely fabricated by us - Forever Interiors. The top is a yellow gate (like you find leading to a garage in an old home) encased in a reclaimed BC fir frame. The table now resides at the Toronto Coffee Company ) Lansdown and Bloor, where it will service hundreds if not thousand,,, no no, millions of coffee drinkers.

I bought four really old Giant Table from my Friend Paul at Smash. He got them from up north somewhere and thinks they might have been used as banquet tables. The tables are old, and rickety and need lots of work. What we have done is completely rebuilt one of them from the ground up using existing pieces plus more reclaimed wood in key areas. For starters, the originally table was only 24 inches wide, not too useful for a dining table, we extended it to 36 (we can do 40). The height was too high at 33 inches so we shortened the legs and then reinforced them with reclaimed Ash. Three tables are available, you can have it in any size you want as long as its between 7.5ft and 10.5 feet. Too much to ask for?

Our most popular table, The Forever Modern Metal Table. We've done quite a bit of these including a few for a number of local Canadian celebrities and well know coffee establishments. Available in 5 foot , 6 foot ++. The wood is reclaimed BCfir and the base is a Forever Interiors design. The legs are detachable for easy moving and the top and frame are one (metal and wood). Come by and visit us, we almost always have one built for a customer on our showroom floor.

Our new Up-&-Down table. The top of this one is an old reclaimed church banquet table from the Deer Park United Church on St Clair. The legs (up and down) is our rolled steel design. Available in any colour you like as long as it's the one shown.

The 5 foot table in the photo was built specifically for a customer which requested that the legs be installed off-set to accommodate her filing cabinet that would be placed below.

When is a Church a table?

When the table is made from 121 year old pine wood reclaimed from a church turn condo development (the church shell still stands :). Some say this is "holy wood" but to be perfectly honest, there is no holes in it, just beautiful aged wood. come see for yourself

Built in-house using 121 year old wood. We make it in a variety of sizes (we currently have a 54 inch wide console table with shelf, a 30 inch console table with shelf and a 35 inch coffee table). A beautiful piece with clean lines and presence.

We built this using an existing ottoman base and chucks of wood left behind from other projects. It looks like a block of wood hence the name "block table". Works great as a coffee table $500.

A customer asked us to build something similar but with a lid and storage.

#301 The story of the Desk

Hundreds of years ago in England and indeed throughout the English empire, the writing table was the de-facto center of written communication. It was that little somewhere about the house where one could pull out his fountain pen and sit comfortably scribbling some sort of useless nothing to that special someone else whom of which probably couldn’t even read.

That was then, move forward a hundred years or so to the 1900’s. Victor Pen the inventor of the device we all have come to call a pen.... was bent on world domination with his new product. Victor thought writing tables severely limited the use of his fantastic invention to one single place in the home or office – the writing table. Why the thing had one single drawer! Victor contacted his old friend and fellow entrepreneur Nicolas Desk whom himself manufactured writing tables. Victor tried in vane to have Nicolas design a new and innovate writing area but without success. Fortunately, Nicolas’s younger and some say smarter brother Bob was himself working on a new type of writing table design with God forbid, more than one drawer, three and four drawers at that. Victor insisted that Bob come up with a new name for his god forsaking device and so it was, Bob named it the Desk. The rest is history.
